The Trap-A-Cat Program
is a low-cost, no-cost spay/neuter service offered for stray
and feral cats and kittens in Ouachita Parish. These animals
are trapped and transported to veterinary clinics for
evaluation, vaccination, and sterilization. The medical
treatment for each cat or kitten includes sterilization, a
4-in-1 vaccination, a 3-year rabies vaccination, treatment
for worms, ear mites, fleas, and ear "tipping" for
identification. Healthy cats and kittens too wild to be adopted are
returned to their familiar habitats under the lifelong care
of volunteers.
We are happy to report
that we have trapped over 2,650 cats and kittens since
beginning our program in July of 2002. However, there are
still thousands of stray and feral cats roaming our parish,
whose lives can be improved through our Trap/Neuter/Return
program.
