About Us

 The River Cities Humane Society For Cats is a humane organization established to help the many homeless cats and kittens in the Twin Cities area.  The society was formed in the spring of 1989 and is approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is registered with the state of Louisiana as a non-profit corporation organized for charitable and educational purposes.

The goals of the River Cities Humane Society For Cats are as follows:

To extend relief to cats who are suffering

To provide a means of relieving cat over-population through spaying and neutering

To provide the community with humane education materials

The society opened a shelter for homeless felines when a vacant house was generously donated to the society, and after extensive repairs it opened its doors in October of 1991.

The River Cities Humane Society For Cats is a not for profit service organization that operates with only a minimal amount of resources derived solely from private donations.  Our resources are directed towards our mission of saving and helping the homeless felines of our surrounding area.  Since the opening of our shelter in 1991 we have provided the community with a viable no-kill shelter for cats.  The River Cities Humane Society For Cats has rescued and dealt with more than 8,000 cats during the 13 year period of our existence.  Using the high and low figures for operating costs of local public kill shelters it is reasonable to say that our organization has saved our community thousands of dollars in expenses in dealing with homeless animals that would otherwise burden the public facilities.  At the same time our meager resources have returned thousands back to the local economy by way of salaries for our employees and other operating expenses.

The River Cities Humane Society For Cats is proud to provide the homeless felines of the Twin Cities and surrounding areas a safe, loving environment and to find each cat and kitten the loving home they deserve.  We invite you to become active in the shelter with the donation of your time and money.  We want to share in the special love these cats and kittens have to offer.
